Perch in Miniature?

I have for a long time now found perch to be a highly attractive fish, their deep hues and striking form just draw me, so then, does anyone know fish that would make a good equivalent to a perch in miniature, ideally one that is tropical and not see through (Im looking at you Ambassids)

4-6” so still not proper miniature.

Maybe Nandus nandus or Nandus nebulosus could be an option for you.

4-6 inches is basically my size range, my bichir would probably eat fish below 9 CM once she gets a tad bigger. I do like mouth almighty, seem cool, but with them and nandus I am concerned that I will have to start worrying about them eating other fish

Nandus is interesting, though ideally this mystical mini perch would be more active. C:

Nah mouth almighty’d get to big. Not a very long fish but a thick one and they’d have a good crack and probably eat a Sen. anything long and skinny would go straight down the hatch
