Ok, I think I still go with hatchet fish and black neons. But is there any other fish that is cool with nice colours or maybe a oddball like peacock eel, and if i go for badis for the bottom how should i do scarlet badis or regular badis, also should i have bottom dwellers such as loaces or corys. And also how many of each fish? one last thing do the hatchet fish take down bigg insects like cricets, in the same way that odessa barbs do or just small fruit flies

I can write it better. I am going to go with hatchetfish for topwater, and black neon tetra for midwater but I am unsure of what I am going to have for the bottom, can badis badis or scarlet badis go with shrimp, and how do bottom dwellers do with badis. Do the hatchet fish take down big insects like Odessa barb or just small insects?

The hatchets are too small to eat crickets. More like gnats, fruit flies. You can choose either badis but the scarlet is more colorful.
Peacock eel won’t work but you could try some kuhli loaches, cories, or a sumo loach.

Ok, but does the badis eat shrimp, and the tank is heavily planted with many rocks and driftwood, is there anything I have to know when feeding badis?
