Wouldn't be the first cichlid in spawning mood that confuses brine shrimp with fry. The male eats the "fry" and gets beating.

Thats really good to know, she also did it with micro granuels to, but they do have alot of meat in them as well so

I would try 1 more time to rearrange the decor if the female keeps it up i would then rehome or put a divider.
I have a female festae who took out 5 male festae she was 6-7in and they was 5-6in. Once the fish starts breathing hard at the top its pretty much a wrap for them

Cichlids are very complicated much like us. The last failed breeding may make her think he is no good. Any number of things could have changed her mind.
With my Saggitae Casper, shortly after the fry got to swimming stage I would have to move the female to another tank till she was ready again. Casper would defend even against her. The fifth time I waited a bit to long and he killed her overnight.
So much like humans Cichlids are very complicated, sometimes even irrational behavior.

As was stated you can separate, change the tanks decorations completely and then reintroduce and see if that works.

Oh okay yeah, ill definitely separate. They aint playing lol. I realized today that she was still chasing him in the log and around the tank not much tho, i was very minimal. Seems to be just during feeding time mostly

You know whats funny. I think she laid eggs and is now guarding her log against the male lol. She sits outside of it all day n if he gets close, attacks em. This has been going on for 2-3 days straight. Looks like these eggs wont be getting fertilized.

The eggs probably were fertilized if the male could fit in the log. I've had female cichlids of different species got aggressive with the male after eggs were fertilized.
