Interesting y
Just saying, my B. channoides spawned (there is now an additional free channoides) in a tank that's only had top offs for the last 2 years...

My window tank has also been doing pretty good and produces my highest quality HRPs, but then again I have no heater or LED on there so they just get actual seasons and daylight cycles.

However, as you've seen me complain about before, I hate the whole "asking me for advice, not taking my advice on how to make setting up a tank as easy and cheap as possible, and then complaining about it not going well"

Or kinda like you said, asking me if a fish can go with another fish, not liking my answer, getting it anyway and then complaining to me about them eating/killing eachother. Etc
Interesting you mention this about the hrps...I've noticed they don't seem to "stunt" like other fish even without massive water changes. If they're gonna grow, they grow. My outlier is Lazarus, who has earned himself a lifetime tank by his ability to survive. He stayed alive in about 1/2" of water, sand, mulm, no filtration and no lighting for 6 months. The tank was a reserve one I drained and covered. One of Pip and Mongo's first offspring he was only around 2 1/2" while his siblings were anywhere from 3 to 6+ inches. It's like his body went into survival mode.

Two years later he's the same size as his brothers in the 125.

In the growout I might do a full w/c every 2 weeks but generally top off. But I've got lots of duckweed in there too but between the 6 adults and 2 batches of babies its getting lively. I suspect they're eating some the duckweed. I harvest it from Lazarus tank.

I can't speak for all parrots, but mine also aren't influenced by tank size/growth. They seem to grow to whatever size they're meant to regardless. But unlike the hrps 'real' water changes are essential since they're meaty and put out good bio load.

Another thing I don't get: People who ask for advice and really just want long conversation with no intention of doing anything. Usually they will have multiple threads asking the same thing with different words!

Or people who prefer a long message with a lot of pictures that doesn't really answer their question as opposed to a single sentence giving them a direct answer that is in fact correct.
