Well I am down to three fire reels now that were in the original group of five in the last six months the four that are left have been battling it out in the 600 and I’ve had to move one or two of them in and out of the tank when they were getting beat up too bad I had one solo in my 125 that was getting beat up. He was in there a few months on easy Street and I finally decided I wanted to move him back to the 600 with the rest. when I moved him in there I knew there was gonna be some violence , and he got picked on pretty good for a day or two and then they left him alone completely but the top of his back tail was completely white from where he had been bitten from the other fire reels ultimately on the third or fourth night he was gone so now I’m down to three fire eels and the last three seem to be getting along fairly well and the biggest one who is significantly bigger than the other two is not the dominant fire eel, one of the others and even though they can’t bite and have no teeth, they can still pester each other enough or at least enough stress the other ones out leading to death so for years I had them all in the 600 and they did great but over the last six months I’ve lost one to fighting and stress . Down to three

Do you have any video or pic when you moved two of the eels ? Difficult it is . I moved one if my fire week which was roughly 3 feet. It was insane . They are heavy and powerful

Amazing and well kept. Sorry but Xingu 1 , how many are they and for how long they re in this tank ?
There were three, They did great the first year, then they began to develop hith. I keep the water clean and do 50% changes one or two times a week. But I believe the hith was from being overfed. The bichirs are slow eaters so to make sure they get enough food I had to way overfeed the pikes. Its unfortunate but just how it works when your keep a community/ slow and super fast fish together. The three lasted about 2.5 years total and towards the end they were super overweight. I tried to change up feeding to every four days and then do a large feeding but it was just not enough for the bichirs, in my opinion. If they were in a tank to themselves and on pellets only I think they would thrive. lesson learned on my part

Sorry I do not, I did buy a large net though. You could put in a large piece of PVC and cap it then move that. it would be heavy though.

Thanks. I agree in regards to feeding. Mines where not cooperating with pellets even after trying really hard. But then I started soaking fish fillets in massivore pellets water and stuffing the pellets in fish pieces . It was 50 50 success rate. Unfortunately both fire eels aland pikes hate pellets.
