Hello

First of all, I have been a member on this forum for a long time and didn't post much. I want to thank all of you for all the great advices given on this forum. They have been really helpful for the the past years.

Last year I built a new "sideboard style" stand for a maybe new tank in my living room / dining area.
My brother and sister gifted me a new 120G tank which I just received this week.

The tank is currently empty and I'm looking for advice for fish that would "work" with my Panther crab that I currently have in an another tank. I know what they can do but hopefully I'm looking to find fish that won't kill it.

The tank is 60x18x25 high.
Thanks for your input.

As long as you give it plenty of hides and caves to chill in should be fine with some EBA they are nocturnal so a fish that is big enough not to get attacked by crab while resting

How about a part land/water tank with mudskippers and archerfish or monos or sailfin mollies?
I'm not ready yet to go land/water tank. 😐 Fiddler crab would be a good fit with your suggestion.
Do archerfish need brackish or freshwater? I'm going freshwater.

I didn't think about EBA 🤔
I'll check if they are available in my area.
Do you suggest a single EBA, a pair?
Would a green severum be a good match with EBA and crab?

You are always going to run the risk of the crab getting eaten with fish like any cichlid species in the tank. Lots of hiding places help, but it'll never be 100% safe and it's going to be risky. When it molts, one false move and it's dinner.

I'd do a "crab paradise": no cichlids, but some plant cover and a huge school of small fish. Guppies are the easiest but you can do small tetras, rasboras, danios etc.

The crab would be able to hunt a few, but the colony could easily replace these numbers and a planted tank with a proper school (think 50+ fish) makes for an absolutely stunning display.

Thanks C Conchonius for the idea.

I went to many LFS in my area and there's no EBA available.
It looks like small fish may be the way to go at this moment.

You’re right..just read up on your Panther Crab and seems they are freshwater. Assumed it was brackish.

There is a freshwater archerfish, Toxotes blythii…sold as Clouded Archerfish. They might look nice with your crab
