Does this tank need that corner braced?

Tanks size: 120x60x70hcm starfire front sides are grey glass so it not a cheep tank.

It's like this because I took out and internal sump.

Thanks

I'm just meticulous enough that it would bother me. I say that, and yet I have a 230 gallon tank with an overflow box mounted on one end. The tank was built to accommodate the box and has no eurobrace on that end. I asked the builder about it and was assured that all would be okay. However, my tank doesn't have an entire unbraced corner like yours. The front and back braces both tie into the end pane. I believe I would brace that corner.

Would I have to brace it with 10mm glass same as the rest. To get that little but of 10mm glass I got quoted $200. Would there be a cheeper way of doing it?

Holy Crow! Go scavenging, with pieces that small, there must be some scrap glass somewhere. Hope someone else offers some advice. I am no expert on just how safe that unbraced corner is. What was the overflow made from? If glass, any chance of using some of that, laminating it maybe?

The question here is, if that overflow provided any support.
How thick was the glas? Same glas thickness as the tank? Was the overflow braced? If not, you probably don't need any additional braces.

The overflow box tied the top braces both to the tank sidewalls and tank bottom. The "unbraced" area was just the few square inches inside the overflow, which was insignificant. Now, with the overflow removed, the unbraced area is much larger, and the back and right side top braces are no longer tied together like they were with the overflow in place. That's a pretty big change, and I'm sure the forces are now greater on that corner. Enough to require bracing or OK as is? Any tank builders or structural engineers out there?

Yes it is high quality smoked glass and the front is starfire. I have read on google that high quality glass tank are oftern rimless, is this correct & so I could probably leave this tank as is?

Looks like the overflow didn't provide any of the support I speculated since it wasn't attached to the braces. In that case, the tank is just as "safe" without the overflow as it was before.
