Looks like a wild caught one. As for the barbel, its hit or miss sometimes. Usual case is it does grow back, but I've also had experience where it didn't grow back. Possibly just depends on one's regenerative ability.Congi finally in the house. Paid quite a bit for it. Not too sure if CB or WC, around 18” in length, will get exact measurement another time. One of the barbels is broken off when it arrived at the shop during transport, this was a really new shipment. Hao , would it grow back? Either ways, really happy about it, been waiting quite some time for one this size.

looks great! What makes it Faranah? Is it the catch location?Faranah endli 50cm. Had nice headmarkings. Prob will disappear in my tank though since no garnet sand
still love its flat headshape and slender body type. Hopefully eats soon.

Yup, this endli was caught in Faranah, a town in Guinea. You will see many people who own WC bichirs put the catch location beside the species, etc.looks great! What makes it Faranah? Is it the catch location?
That’s interesting. Do the catch locations have significant trait that’s different? For example the lake turkanas getting bigger?Yup, this endli was caught in Faranah, a town in Guinea. You will see many people who own WC bichirs put the catch location beside the species, etc.
- Polypterus bichir bichir, lake ‘turkana’
- Polypterus endlicheri ‘Tinkisso’
- Polypterus lapradei, ‘Nigeria’
- Giselas Bichir (Polypterus sp. aff. congicus "Lake Tanganyika")
many more that are from different regions as well, impossible to list out all. Another pic of my other endlicheri bichir from Faranah, with slope head shape (don’t think it’s considered spoonhead).

Congrats on the pickup. Actually it’s hard to say if it was caught in Faranah region or Faranah prefecture or Faranah town. Since they are vague and just put Faranah.Yup, this endli was caught in Faranah, a town in Guinea. You will see many people who own WC bichirs put the catch location beside the species, etc.
