So you literally read nothing in the posts above, it is explained is very good detail so why you still don't understand is amazing in itself.....

I really don't care what you feel or your opinion on aesthetics

Caring for a fish is not about your feelings, it is about what is best for the fish.

The very fact that 2 different people can tell you that substrait and decor isn't used because they get aggressive with it and trash the tank, and hurt themselves.. And your response is essentially:

"I don't care, it looks good, forget the fish health, as long as it looks nice"

You just red posts about how we wrap the insides of tanks with yoga mats to stop them cutting their heads....

And you still say:

"screw it put in some sand, marbles, rocks and potted plants"

You sir, either cannot read, or you can read and you really don't care about your fish....

My advice to you is do not ever by a technical fish with requirements that hurt your feelings.... Stick to your average store front fish.

Also if 2 people with decades of experience tell you multiple reasons why it is like this for this type of fish, you can take it as truth, also, considering you have never kept this fish and clearly have zero idea of what you are talking abouy, your "idea" is null and void.

Sorry dude, you are either illiterate, ignorant or just plane nasty and you really don't care about your pets.
Ya know, I'm gonna be...nice here. Cause I can get REAL nasty when ticked. I don't want to get banned from this nice location.

Don't know what you're trying to prove that you're tough. You don't know me. I respect people that have different methods than me but not 5 year olds that feel badass on a keyboard. It's your fish, do whatever the hell you want. I don't care. I just offered an idea. If you're too cheap to put anything in a tank , keep pet rocks. I can play this game too.

But thanks for calling attention to yourself. Now have a bad day. I'll respond to nothing you say from this point.

Why not just say that before? Could you have just made it up on the spot cause you know you are now WRONG?

I actually lost an FH about half size of yours when it ripped the strainer off my water change pump and bravely waged war on the impeller.

That rude response to FINWIN FINWIN was completely uncalled for. SHE is a very seasoned and skilled cichlid keeper--keeps very impressive blood parrots atm i believe. Has her own way of doing things but generally just cares about the fish, I'm sure she didn't mean to insult you. A simple "that ain't my style" would've sufficed on your part.

The yoga mat sounds like a cheap solution to a more expensive problem--the tank is too small. I've kept plenty of big cichlids, FH included over the years and seen literally hundreds of beautiful examples here and elsewhere and have personally never seen a yoga mat wrapped around the inside of the tank lol. If your fish is hurting itself on the walls of the tank it needs more swimming room plain and simple, not softer walls to bounce off of...
Can't have a sump currently, personally I don't use yoga mat, my tank has no brace, if you read the link the other user who posted said that was a thing for him.

And i didnt say my fish is hurting itself did I.... Stop putting words into my mouth.

And to be honest just because you people like a load of crap cluttering up the tank doesn't mean I have to.

Sorry to offend you.

Can I also ask why on earth you 3 jumped into my thread about my worm problem and started a **** show about your opinions on the astherics of my tank.....

How about, your all wrong on the aesthetics side, most FH are kept like this, yes you see a show pony in a fancy tank....I guarantee that fish will be in there for the picture then moved back to a bare tank.

Now if all 3 of you are seasoned, you should know the rules here..... Do not derail threads.

Thanks

Perfect another idiot shedded, READ THE TOPIC NEXT TIME.....

Also I love the "im real nasty when I am tickled" one question... And? How is that relevant to anything? Is your mood that out of control because someone disagreeing with you for factual reasons you just can't contain it?

I do not give 2 iota of care about your OPINION on the look of my tank.

The thread was about a worm problem, not your opinion on the decorations in my tank.

This thread was finished and you opened it up again with dumb comments that were zero to do with my thread.

Now if I posted in the decor section and asked "what do you think of my tank" then you were valid to post, here not so much.

Completely off topic.

Hmmm...you say this...

Been keeping FH for a long time... So I am pretty sure this fish is maintained and fed far far better than most fish.

And yet you want help with this...

My tank is covered with algea! Now you mention it, maybe it's my lights..... I have them running from 10am to 10pm.....is that too much?

And this...

My water perameters are perfect. The tank has only been running for 9 days.... Is there something I am missing?...Nitrate less than 10, nitrite about 1......is this wrong?

And this...

I have another question, I have managed to get rid of the green algea by reducing the lighting on the tank...now I have a weird white slime on the glass, it's not thick but it keeps popping up no matter how much I change the water

And this and this...

Now I have a next problem, there is a bunch of tiny white worms in the tank, floating in the water column, it looks like dust in the tank but they are wriggling.
I did a full flush of my tank, I transfered my fish to a quarantine tank, emptied everything, washed out my canister and I still have these white worms..

None of those concerns really sound like the sorts of things someone who has been keeping fish "for a long time" would need to ask about. Doing something for a long time means you should be getting a handle on at least the basics, unless you have been paying no attention and learning nothing along the way.

FINWIN was just giving her 2 cents about having substrate and decor, don't have to be rude man.
yes, having bare bottom does have its benefits, as you stated. but so does having substrate. it can provide another layer for beneficial bacteria to thrive in, can help to reduce stress of the fish from constantly looking at its own reflection, and provide increased stimulus for the fish. most monster fish keepers do keep bare tanks to prevent injuries when they do get spooked. flowerhorns are relatively agile, and adding layer of substrate with some rocks probably wont cause it to ram and kill itself. take this from me, I used to have bare bottom for my predatory fish before I switched over as well. its not only just for aesthetic, but beneficial in other ways. although judging from your response you probably won't take up any advice... this is just my opinion.

You've been a member since 2013. However, it would seem that you don't come on the forum much, or if you do, you must peruse with your eyes closed! I say that because of the totally unnecessary verbal attack on FINWIN FINWIN . If you did come on the forum regularly you'd know that she is possibly the most caring member on this forum when it comes to the wellbeing of her fish.

According to you, you are an experienced fish keeper, yet have been pulled up on really basic stuff, asking questions that we'd expect from a newbie really.

I don't understand what your problem is but your attitude is only going to wind people up.

WORD OF ADVICE !! Don't piss off any of the OG members here!! they're eat you alive !! but all reality they're some forum warriors lol OP has been nothing but respectful and appreciated the help. FINWIN does have an opinion but when the OP kindly said he doesn't want substrate in his OWN tank and kindly shared his research on why bare is better for the fish ill take that as him saying "no". FINWIN had good intentions but when someone says no thank you it usually means NO THANK YOU!!
