Raphael Catfish making sound

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I thought it was old until I looked into it about a decade back. I found there was one in Germany (think it was in a zoo, so more likely to be varified) and that was 48 years old. I have no idea if it's still going or how old the species can get. I guess the problem is that very few stay with the same person for long enough.

Wow, that's old. Must be in good care.

Maybe I can turn the flowerpot of mine a bit, so I can also keep him a bit better in sight.
its so weird hearing that people just dont see them for months, mine comes out every morning to say hello

As long as there is enough guppy fry or food that stays on the ground for a while he is pretty nocturnal. I had him with cichlids for a few years and he was way more active during this time.

If i had to take a crack at it, cichlids are probably pretty good dithers, considering they are so lively and it sorta lets em know all is well

Mine was like that for many years but became more reclusive as it aged. I think once they are growing their metabolism is higher and they search for food but once mature they don't need as much energy, so stay hidden more.
I also think that having the same group of fish, like I have, for about 30 years means I just don't pay as much attention and potentially miss things.
