The jewel cichlid is by far the most aggressive. I have 2 in my 125 hap and peacock (yes I know they don't belong there but they are the 2nd and 3ed best looking ones I have ever seen and the best is in a mbuna tank) and I just moved everything in my tank and got rid of some fish. I also added 1 9inch Malawi Sand Diver - Fossorochromis rostratus. My 2.5 inch jewels are going after him and he is attacking back the little ones wont back down I will try to get a video.

That's nice I guess?.....uuummm.........

(breeding pair)

YOU JUST DESCRIBED LIKE HALF OF THE CICHLIDS OUT THERE! lol, Try breeding some fish that can actually do damage. Go on aqua bid and buy those tropheous duboisi killers that pop up once in a while. I have one in a 300 gallon tank, he has yanked out eyes and punched holes, ripped off lips and shredded fins in fish 10 times his size, things that can practically inhale him. Horie are another terror, don't forget the pit bull of the cichlid world, Julidiochromis! They aren't mean but if something decides to throw down they never loose. I had a rather peaceful one rip both lip bones off an aggressive tretocephalus in self defense, the ratio was 3 to 2 in size at the time the tret was a jerk but the juli had to lay down the law. The list of nasties is a mile long I've heard of people who had Julies spawn in 300 plus gallon tanks and kill half their stock of 10" and up haps/peacocks and fronts. That was actually the case at a pet store near my school, the regani cleared house of over 1,000 dollars worth of fish overnight.

My jewels started out with 4, ended up with 2. They are by themselves, but won't be for long if I can find a suitable tankmate. I did have some mean jewels in a mixed cichlid 55 gallon tank. They took possession of a rock in the tank and wouldn't let anyone near them. I had green terrors, blackbelts and a jaguar in there and they still wouldn't back down. Someone finally got them and killed them, but not without a fight.

My 2 jewels ripped my acei cichlids eye out of the socket! And killed 2 yellow labs! They ripped a hole in the labs stomach!

Well of corse they're aggressive, to the fish you have them with lol peacocks are wimps and haps are not far off, stick a pair of cons in the tank and you will see some mean fish.
