Many aquarists think because both oscars and GT come from S America they are compatable, but the reality if far complicated .The rivers east of the Andes are filled with vast communities of various cichlids, with low pH soft waters.
The rivers west of the Andes are far more alkaline,, and contain only a few genera of cichlids so they tend to be aggressive loners that may be and prone to, and capable of killing oscars.

Yes they are the two varieties of Andinoacara coerulropunctatus I catch in Panama.

Where I find Andinoacara, for every cichlid I find, there are usually 50 to 100 tetras, similar to numbers in the video below.
