Many aquarists think because both oscars and GT come from S America they are compatable, but the reality if far complicated .The rivers east of the Andes are filled with vast communities of various cichlids, with low pH soft waters.
The rivers west of the Andes are far more alkaline,, and contain only a few genera of cichlids so they tend to be aggressive loners that may be and prone to, and capable of killing oscars.

This is some very interesting info. I’m always grateful when people are willing to educate others on stuff like this. So are all those photos acara’s?
