I had this group around one year now.
Ten fish purchased from wharf aquatics, part of Richard’s own stock.

Delighted with joy, I’d previously owned a group of 5, around 5 years previously. I haven’t seen them since. I secured ten small fish of what was on offer.

My overall experience with this group had been nothing but pleasure. Amazing characters, very calm, not at all easily spooked, brilliant at shoaling. They great me readily at the waters surface begging for food, the largest being around 8-9” currently, a very deep bodied fish, they’re starting to fill out extremely well, thick set shoulders are starting to set in.

I’d highly recommend them to anyone , providing you have the space for this larger charachine. I believe they should exceed 12”+ which I am very looking forward to see, they will no doubt be very impressive.

You know a fish is rare when this MFK thread pops up on the first page of googling its name LOL. Congrats on the pic up. Do you know if thye have a similar diet to a silver dollar? It would be interesting to see if they ate common aquarium plants like their cousins

Beautiful fish and tank.
What size is the tank? it looks roomy despite the large fish.
They’re currently in a 7x2x2 with sump, I think it works out around 1000L . This year I will be upgrading. This is the smallest tank I’ve owned in many years. Should be building a 10x3x30” around autumn , just awaiting a house move before I do.

I’ve found them very similar. They take pellets of any kind, veggies , chopped fish/ mussles. Not at all
Fussy. I did have a monstera in the tank for some time, they did leave it alone mostly. So I do not think they’re as ravenous to plant matter compared to your standard dollar specimens. Although, I will trial it once moved with floating planets and report back.

Well, by chance I walked into a fish store and stumbled along 3 more. From
The same batch of 25 fish at wharf. Grabbed all 3 for £100 which is somewhat of a bargain compared to their original price.

I’ve also witnessed last night , some potential spawning behaviour, from what I understand from dollar sp. My knowlage is limited , I must admit. I did manage to catch some of the ordeal on video, I’ll be sure to add it to this thread at some point.

With that being size, some of the fish have great bright red breast this morning. (it’s the only word i can think of using.)
See attached picture of one of the largest specimens.
