105 gallon wet pet suggestions

I’ve got 10 that I’m growing out from TUIC. It’s the second time I’ve had them over the years and I forgot how painfully slow they grow. They’re a little over 14 months and the largest fish is around 5” with most being around 4-4.5”.

I also have a colony of 7 melanura from COTA in an 240g and while they’re a great looking fish they’re boring as hell. Zero personality.

Yeah I've read about the slow growing part multiple times now. Is what it is though, can only find one source where they have these fish in my country. ****load of bigger Vieja's but no Heterospila.

Interestinf you find the melanura boring, seems a boring. Got no experience with them (actually my first CA tank) but opinions seems divided. Overall I think that the firemouths and Heterospila should make a stunning tank.

Nice tank btw and see some good colors on your Heterospila.

Nice.. My Melanura are from COTA and Heterospila from TUIC as well.. second time with both as well... My Melanura are easily currently my favorite fish in my fish room.. I kept them as a group of 6 and later just a pair.. both times very active and interactive.. as a group they were always cruising the tank looking for any sign of weakness from tankmates.. they ended up mauling 2 or 3 adult and larger T. pasionis, before I moved the pasionis. when I just had a pair and they bred, no one died and I, well, my friends got rewarded with about 500 fry.. I now have friends who never heard of them raising them, and loving them just as much.. On the other hand I also had Vieja melanura synspilum a couple times from TUIC... They were pretty.. but also pretty boring.. no activity, no breeding, no fighting.. just slow moving and boring...

This is my second time with heterospila.. very active always getting into it w/ my T. meeki, but no harm, just bark, no bite.. only problem is as you said, they grow at a snails pace.. But I have time now as the melanura and meeki are adults, I'm in no rush for the heterospila to grow up too quick...

Interesting how I derailed my whole 100 gallon thread but I am very happy with you all and the choices I've made. Reserved the Heterospila and asked the same shop to order 10 meeki for me. Special thanks to @bkfamus and @Stanzzzz7 for being so responsive to my questions. Current stocking will go next week and then I'm gonna take a week or two to rescape the tank and solve a small sump issue. I'll update when I received the fish.

EU sizes don't translate well to US sizes but I have a 59" x 18" x 23" tank.

What would be nice single species (wet pet) options? I'm thinking trimac, midas or texas but open for other suggestions.

Bonus question: I think it's too small for a breeding pair of A. Lyonsi right? Or breeding pair of any other kind of bigger cichlid?

If you want an interactive glass banger fish here would be my choices:

- Midas. Especially a white one with red markings. Get a male.

- Andinoacara Rivulatus: not all males are glass bangers but some are. Buy a group and grow them out.

- trimac- Again, grow a group out for a male.

- Parachromis Multifasciatus: a male.

- Herichthys Carpintis: again, a male
