I let the tank run for 24 hours with the heater and filters running, to see if there would be any problems. Then I added filter media and let run for another 24 hours. I had my water tested at the LFS, Mike told me everything is good to go.

I'm having terrible luck. I put in a gold grami, he seemed ok 4 hours later dead. I figured some times this happenes. I put in my green sev and sinodontis. The green sev looked like his eyes clouded over and stayed at the bottom of the tank, would not move. The sinodontis turned a light pale grey and started to twitch. I left them for a while but they did not get anymore comfortable so I took them out put them back in thier old tank and now they seem fine again. Then I tried a Jewel same thing turned pale and stayed on the bottom without moving. So today I am going to a few different places to have the water tested. I think I will pick up some goldfish and see what happens.

Maybe the tank is poisioned with some kind of chemical. I waited 48hrs after sealing the tank before I filled it to test it. Then I drained it for a couple more days. So the acohol should have dissapated and the silicone should have cured. I don't know.

I know the tank has to cycle, but I always cycled a newly set up tank with a few small fish.

Very nice job on the stand and the build pics.

Why don't you try doing a fishless cycle this time? I don't see any way that your parameters are 'OK' to be adding any fish at this time. BTW, what are your water parameters?

If seeing the shims bother you...tack on a thin strip of pine molding that's stained to match the rest of the tank....nice job.

It is done. Its leveled and ready to fill tomorrow. You can see by the shims I added my floor is off. Its level now, hope it stays that way.

Since the shims are staying, one thing you might do is to add a little quarter round to the bottom and it will cover up the shims. Just put a couple of brads in it, since it's just purely decorative. It will give it the look that it is level and hide the gap from your eye.

Btw, that is a great job.
