120 Gallon Cichlid Stocking

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Thats what I was worried about too. Discus although beautiful, do they do anything? How would numbers go with that in a 120? But I'm still interested in the angelfish-discus combo.

some of the friendliest beggars in the house here - accept hand feeding at petting ?‍♂️

When considering fish combinations, most people do not then consider the habitat and condition the fish prefer in nature.
Seveums, discus and angels come from slow flow, low current habitat, while
most Geophagines prefer stronger currents with highly oxygenated water.
If you provide a strong enough current for Geo's, you may stress out the placid water fish enough to create disease, and vice versa.
I condisider a 4 ft tank too small for most Geo's, and is also too small territorially for any adult Vieja.
If it were me, I'd stick to the placid water fish. and either adding non-cichlid dithers, or if cichlids are preferred, only the dwarf type.
This (of course) would be dependent on your tap water chemicalr parameters (which is another conversation altogether)
