1200 gallon MONSTER planted tank

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I had an opportunity to visit this tank over the weekend. This tank by far is the BEST tank I have ever seen. It's a 1500-1600 gallon tank, I forgot what he said because I was so mesmerized with the SIZE of this incredible tank. It's literally the amazon in his living room. I came home and couldn't look at my tank the same. I thought to myself, what's the point...lol... what I got out of it was "INSPIRATION", that this is exactly how I want my tank to look, but obviously in a much smaller scale....lol.....

The pictures posted are old but the tank is still heavily planted. Actually even better now. The discus shown are all gone is it's strictly wilds. That's where I picked up a dozen wilds from over the weekend. He was downsizing and I happen to be at the right time and place. He also has a 600 planted which he wants me to check out so if they are not writing about the 600 I'll be sure to bring my camera.

It's not owned by the person named on the first post. I provided the link to the owner so hopefully he will join us to share more info about his fabulous tank. Perhaps post some pictures of his AUDI R8 V10 Convertible as well....man, I almost had a heart attack over he weekend. See this monster tank and check out my favorite car at the moment...

Dude, the guy pulls up in a R8 V10 I nearly creamed my pants.... then I walk in his living room, forget about it... I needed depends...lol

Seriously, I could have sat in that living room all weekend long just memorized at the beauty. It's a work of ART. It's an incredible piece of nature inside your house. Hopefully they are not writing an article about his 600 because I'd love to be able to take some pictures and share you guys...

Dude, an R8 plus that bad ass tank? I'd be so aroused I'd need to roll around in a wheelchair the whole time I was there.

I personally met Tom Barr after posting this thread, so after that I knew it wasn't his tank. I'm so jealous though. I already saw JohnPTC's tank, so if I see this one day I can die happy. Every since the day I saw pictures of this tank I knew hands-down it's the best tank I've ever seen. And to this day, I have not seen a privately-owned freshwater aquarium that can top this display. It's just magical, and I can only imagine how much better it is now based on how you describe it.

I really hope the owner joins the site and shares more pictures! We already have the monster 'stingray river' tank, this would just seal the deal!

Bro, I know you will enjoy this this tank as much as I did, perhaps even more because your familiar with plants and know the work involved, but to see it in this scale is just truly amazing. Not only will you be impressed with the tank, but the filtration, lighting, everything that makes this tank run. Every detail is incredible. If your a person of detail....this tank will blow your socks off... not the way HOUSE64 or Dragonhunters blows...

Seriously, it's like going to Sea World and you see the whale display and your amazed by it's size and monsters on display, like PTC's tank. Then you walk over to the monster Reef display and is just amazed by the elegance and beauty of the tank. This is that tank.....

yo joey, how you manage to visit this tank man? i been keeping up with that tank for awhile over at plantedtank.net. yeah tom barr made that tank. before they had a bunch of altums but they were sold or something and was replaced by discus. tom barr said those discus in that tank were freaking HUGE like dinner plate huge. man i wanna visit that tank and drive his R8 haha.

Ah, at first I read that and thought "Tom Barr drives an R8? Damn, maybe that industry DOES have some great potential!" but now I realize it's just someone who paid Tom to do it, that makes more sense.

That's cool that you managed to get your discus from there and get a nice tour along the way... only thing better would've been also getting a test drive in his car :) (though I'm a BMW guy myself - but damn is Audi headed in the right direction).

Why not ask if you can shoot photos anyway? If there's a magazine, maybe they'll use yours (an opportunity in itself) - you're certainly good enough- and if not, who cares - there's not some exclusivity clause, is there?

wow amazing :D i wish:P
