mines acrylic. 3/8" I believe is normal. I have a 150g glass tank and its 1/2" starphire and 30" tall. taller tanks require thicker glass.

Tank level but stand isnt?
Hey guys I have a 420l tank rested on an oak unit. The unit has an inch or 2 overhang from the tank but is bowing slightly in the middle. I got a level on the tank and stand and the tank is level but the front of the stand where it bows a few mm isnt. Does it sound like anything to worry about?

As long as all four corners of the tank rest firmly on the stand, and its obvious that no twisting of the tank exists, the 1/4 inch slope of the floor shouldn't be a problem. IMO, That would be the biggest acceptable slope.
My 5 foot tank is situated on a wavy flagstone floor. After seven hours of shimming & leveling, all four corners of the tank finally adhered to the stand. There still remained a 1/8 inch slope. Its been up & running 5 yrs. No problems.

Yes, my Aquarium base sits flush on the top of stand. It's the bottom of stand near carpet that seems to not sit 100% flush. There seems to be a small space just under the outer most edging of the stand that you can almost fit your finger tips in there. It's a uniform and consistent space. It must just be the way the stand was designed.
Can I ask if you used wood shims or composite? I'm heading to Home Depot today.
Also, is it necessary to shim the entire length of aquarium stand near floor with no spaces? Or do you just place a shim every 2-3 inches for the length being covered?
