Finally finished the trim. Went ahead and took the front piece of wood off and replaced it also. All i have to do now is caulk, paint and put the hardware on and it will be done.

on the top of the tank?
Yea a center brace. Remember my 210? That was thick enough to hold without a brace , then it just decided to give. I would say for your fish sake , and not ruining your house it would be best just to do a quick brace. From a fellow salty , you dont want a sw tank to bust , its the worst.

yeah that would suck....i guess id be crazy not to while its empty. how big of piece would you say i can use. the glass is 5/8's inch thick, so i could get a piece maybe 4 inches wide 5/8 thick or does it need to be that thick?

I would say whatever you can do. If you go to a glass cutting shop they should have a scrap you could use.

So i got it filled yesterday. Im still waiting on the salt and sand cloudiness to go away and i also ordered a new heater so hopefull everything will be done by next week. Ive still got to get some glass tops made so my lights will have somewhere to sit on top. I threw my t-5's that are going on the tank just to see what they look like. I think it will be enough light for this tank

Awesome! I am getting ready to do the same thing pretty soon. Got a similar sized tank of CL (lady said whoever gets here first gets it!), 3/4" glass, no brace, etc... I'm going to be doing a refurb on the tank and building a new stand. Thanks for the posts and it looks great so far! Can't wait to see the finished product.

that tank you have there looks like an ODELL.they were pretty good tanks in there time.I have the starfire 55 as a sump.being that its been repaired and then resealed by you,I wouldnt trust it without a brace in the middle.
