18' x 9' x 3.5' catfish tank build in progress.....

hey guys, here's a pic that I promised a while back. You can see three of the plywood pieces on the floor, but now there's four, and I've cut the extra pieces to fill in the gaps. I'll take some more pics tomorrow.

your going to need a lot of ply to cover it, what thickness are you using?

I just read this whole thread and I must say that I am very addicted. I live in a town house and lack the room to build something like that. I do have an 8-9 in redtail cat that I must get a bigger tank for.

Man, that is a beauty, GL on that tank. Damn. And my goal is only a 400 gal.

So I see lots of new interest in my tank. To answer a few questions. There is already enough ply there to finish the tank. The next step will be to fiberglass the joints, and put a layer of resin over the whole tank. After that gel coat. I'm going to get some styrofoam insulation to fill in the gaps on the top of the tank before I put the ply up. I'll try to get some pics of me hanging it. I learned from putting the ply on the bottom that there's a certain way to do it without killing yourself. I'll try to get some new pics up by monday night. I have to go pick up some new kitties at the lfs tomorrow as well. Thanks for all the great support guys, and gals. Anyone that wishes to come and see it in person when it's finished is more than welcome. I'll be making a website about my fish and my tanks soon also.
