Necro, I'm glad to hear of the preliminary success with the Bluemax. Kudo's for trying something new and untested on an application like that.

As far as the limitations suggested by the manufacturer, it could easily be a case of the company simply wanting to avoid liability in an untested situation so they decided it was easier to just say that they wouldn't recommend using it for this or that.

So are you going to attempt to eliminate the use of silicon all together?

I'm thinking hard about it. I really am considering testing a little more to see what I can do with this stuff, but it seems very likely that it could do well on it's on. I'm almost scared to try and use this and silicone in the same application. Silicone will not adhere to bluemax or to acryllic. So if this stuff is adhering as well as it seems to be then why not just take it out of the equation. My plan would be to seal the windows in completely. Putting a frame on the back side also and continue the coating of the entire tank from there to make sure it's one seemless application. In a sense it would wrap completely around the acryllic around the edges sandwhiched between plywood. If nothing else it should act as a gasket when used like this. I know it should work, but being the first to try is kinda scary.

It was either that... or she's trying to kill me for the insurance money ! :grinno:
My wife says that to me constantly! I too have added about 5 lbs of starvation insurance since I've gotten married. Starting to hit the gym hard again though. Hoping to be back in shape by the end of summer.:D My wife knows the ladies are after me! It's the fish! They're chick magnets.
