20” Sailfin Pictus Catfish - internal issue vs. ?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
i’ve got general cure, prazi pro, para guard, levamisole on hand to treat the gallonage i have - need to order anything else -
no other fish are showing signs - just don’t want any more fish dead -

one bass is stressed looking aside from that...

looking for the 280g jar of marcyn2

dang....

Think the fish has septicemia. The achara looked like it had it too from prior pics. I’d try and move the fish to a qt tank and treat. Keep the water clean. Feed the metro if able. Don’t think prazi and levamisole are needed right now.

the l14 pleco is deceased -

wondering what to do for the rest of the tank

Oh ok. So what’s sick, the fogos?

nothing appears sick - just want to make sure tanks ok -

sounds like clean water is the key to them not getting septicemia?

folks had told me wild bass needed 3 weeks of prazi in QT - i only did one week with the fogo and was wondering if my lack of diligence led to the demise of the cat / l14

hence i was stuck on the prazi

i just need advice on how to proceed following the two losses -

thanks kno4te kno4te !

No but if there’s white poop then I’d fed them metro for now. Reconsider re-treating with prazi.

I buy fish meds in bulk from fishman chemicals: https://www.fishchemical.com/FULL-PRODUCT-LIST-2338.Category.html

It's very hard to diagnose from the info given. I understand you don't have any other info.

Septicemia, if I recall correctly, is rarely the primary disease but often the last stage of a multi-stage illness.

My go to parasitic meds are metro+prazi+fenbendazole as one cocktail, best through feed, much less efficient through long term bath.

My go to antibacterial are bi-furan mix, erhythromycin, oxytetracyclene.

Triple sulfa, kanamycin sound nice but I've never tried them.

MicrobeLift Broad Spectrum Disease Treatment I use too for QT and when unsure what I am treating.

Of course, the use of meds should the last measure when everything else has been checked and found fine.

thanks thebiggerthebetter thebiggerthebetter ! starting a 3 week prazi treatment in the tank - going to do levamisole in between -

going to take out all the deco so i can gravel vac the heck out of it -

i’ve gotta get an eyeball on the sun cat and l600 they stay hidden - i wonder why it effected the bottom dwellers -

and the L14 was added after the suncat and L600?

i don’t know....

that’s my understanding as well - Septicemia being the result -

the tank water was also cold 76-78 ? as my drip (winter vs summer) is super cold and i’ve upped it from 120g’s per day to 240g’s

i’ve added more heat to get temp up to 82 -

thanks for the bulk list - i’ll order the meds that have been suggested so they are on hand.....

i just want to prevent future losses obviously-

thanks all!
