Will a 20
Gallon be big enough tank to house 5-7 zebra plecos for life? Currently planning to have 5-7 zebra hoping to eventually breed them.

no its not. especially breeding. Some thing like a 40. but its depends. I'm trying to breed them in a tank base dimension 100x40cm

I successfully keep 7-8 in a 20g long tank with lots of caves. I would not attempt this in standard 20g tank though.
I have noticed they only use 1/2 of the 20g long tank and have a preference for the right hand side.
When I added my last mature male he challenged my current smaller dominate male and the new male chewed the tail of my dominate male, scratched his sides, but lost lol

my smaller male is still top cat ?

I also think my group is 2 mature males, with maybe one juvie male. Thought I’m honestly not entirely sure.
If your male heavy you will most likely encounter losses in a 20g long tank as there isn’t enough space for territories

should they be ok in base dimension 3,5-4ft long and 18 inches wide ?

Well my tanks is just 12' tall so i couldn't keep any plants. I'm planning to include a power head and some more rocks and scapes. Thanks for the picture
