It’s not exactly what op asked for but I wish to put my thoughts down.
2020 was suppose to be a good year for me, I was going to get a big fiberglass tank which would have been bigger than any of my tanks before, that did not happen. I was going to get more tanks, try my hand at breeding, and get more fish, I ended up downsizing drastically for an upcoming move and the breeding did not happen regrettably. A lot of things were suppose to happen but very few things came to reality. One of the few things that did occur was me getting my Wallace’s shoehead catfish, Tetranematichrhys wallacei. Sadly out of the 10 I got 4 ended up dying however I ended up learning something from their deaths. I also had the chance to buy some juvenile Wallace’s shoehead catfish from the wet spot for a steal that were eating pellets (!) however I was 30 minutes too late and some “world famous breeder” bought them all to my dismay. I’m still annoyed at that.
Hmm, I don’t keep track of the fish that I’ve given away or have had die on me so all that I know of is my 4 Wallace’s shoehead catfish that died off of the top of my head atm.
My plans for 2021, I am going to continue with my african knifefish, currently at a group of 9 individuals and my beloved star species, Tetranematichrhys wallacei which is a group of 6 atm, and I am planning to get Adontosternarchus nebulosus, and Steatogenys duidae. I would also list siniperca roulei and siniperca obscura however given that I am trying to give species that hold a lot of my interest more dedicated time along with time and financial constraints it is likely that these two species will remain in my plans until 2022 likely. I am also going to continue experimenting with terrestrial plants with my tanks as mentioned in this thread of mine.
Hello, after I move I believe it will be time to go after a project I’ve been wanting to do for a while now which is basically getting some planter boxes, putting them over the tank trim, and using a pump to pump water into it where it’ll drain out through a hole along with plants in the box...

Up until now my mindset has been “more tanks, more fish, expand into new areas” however at least for this year instead of continuing on with that idea in mind I’ll be focusing on a few species and dedicating most of my tanks towards the chosen species. The sole reason for my sudden change of action is that I was able to secure a source for my Wallace’s shoehead catfish in the near past instead of it taking 10+ years like I thought it would.
Forgive me if I misremember but I can not recall all of my fish solely by memory so here we go.
29 gallon
3 Wallace’s shoehead catfish
40 breeder
3 Wallace’s shoehead catfish
75
1 green severum
1 rhino pleco
1 Peruvian lyretail pleco
1 spiny monster pleco
75
9 african knives
20 high
Cherryshrimp
I am almost certain that I forgot at least one pleco in the top 75... anyway the Wallace’s shoehead catfish are only in those small tanks temporarily until after I move at which point I’m setting up a 125 species tank for them. I’ll likely be giving the shrimp the 29 gallon and using the 40 breeder as a quarantine/hospital tank.
I ended up taking down a few tanks and giving away or selling a *lot* of fish and I can’t remember which ones I gave away or sold so I’ll only talk about the tanks.
1 40 breeder
2 29’s
2 20 highs
Once I move the shrimp out of the 20 high I’ll get rid of it as well.
I’ve also made a thread for the catfish and Nebulosus knifefish, here are the links.
Hello, I would like to share my experiences with Adontosternarchus nebulosus which are also known as the clouded ghost knifefish. These are a relatively new species which were only discovered in 2007 and just in 2019 I started seeing them pop up for sale a mere 3 times or so. I bought one each...
