IMO, you don't need 2x8's. I think my stand is overkill with the 2x6's and lots of 2x4s. But in the end, whatever you are comfortable with having 2000 lbs of water and tank sitting on is what you should go with.

2x6 are way overkill for stands...2x4's hold up houses!! Don't underestimate the compression strength of 2x4's. If you design it properly bigger wood is a waste.

Check out my builds below....Store bought stands are made with 1/2 inch boards and they hold up.

ya lol i went with 2x8's just i could sleep at night and not have to think about waking up to a 210g all over my floor lol
