just as a warning, the pleco can kill the bichirs. the plecos will aquire a taste for slimecoat and it will eat it off the bichir and kill it. i say either leave the bichirs or the pleco in the 40gal. since theyre just senagals they should be ok in there. i say arrowanna, i dont know much about snakeheads cause theyre illegal over here in the u.s. . and a catfish isnt as cool as an arrowanna. i think the ornate bichir would be a great addition. and maybe a ray.mb_barton;717180; said:No its not way to early to ask...
I am building this tank for the fishies I own right now... i bought them and I am growing them out in my 40 gallon
theres gonna b 3 oscars, 2 polypterus senegalus, 1 brown knife, 1 pleco, a reedfish... and then I still will have space to add a bit more.
Ill prolly throw in a peacock bass or 2
and then i needa decide between 1 of the following three monsters...
-Silver or black arowana
-Emperor Snakehead (Channa Marulioides)
-Redtail catfish or marbled pim
What do you all think would be the best choice with the other fish?
I may also put in another bichir.
why would the pleco only kill the Bichirs than? wouldnt it also try to eat the slimecoat off of other fish? And dont you think the bichirs would kind of notice a pleco biting them and move away?Razman;719152;719152 said:just as a warning, the pleco can kill the bichirs. the plecos will aquire a taste for slimecoat and it will eat it off the bichir and kill it. i say either leave the bichirs or the pleco in the 40gal. since theyre just senagals they should be ok in there. i say arrowanna, i dont know much about snakeheads cause theyre illegal over here in the u.s. . and a catfish isnt as cool as an arrowanna. i think the ornate bichir would be a great addition. and maybe a ray.

I havent notice much of a problem... the pleco generally hides during the day and at night i feed him some pleco discs and hell come out for them...
has anybody else experienced problems with plecos eating slimecoats of other fish?
