Best to mix up diet with varied food. I feed frozen or pellet one day live next day. Its honestly up to you with the live feeding. Personally I feed mine dwarf frogs, worms, your size delhezi I would use small red wiglers. ( WHAT YOU DO IS BURY THE WORM UNDER SAND OR GRAVEL AND WATCH THEM DIG IT UP), bait shop minnows (I personally know the guys minnows are good). I feed my small del and albino Molly fry and small enough to be eaten. (friends tank) Mealworms (if they don't sink take off the head). Crickets, and lastly live jumbo bloodworms. I personally like watching mine hunt instead of being lazy sometimes

Thanks for all the suggestions guys. I tried a bit of cut up silver sliders last night and my del pretty much ignored them haha I will try again this morning to see if he will be more open to trying it!

Don't get del hooked on live....mine came live fed from the lfs and it was a pain to get him to eat anything but...I starved him for 3 weeks before he took silversides and tilapia. If you want to spoil him, take those guppies and freeze them, then use them as a treat every so often. Its good he already takes tilapia and pellets, don't stray him off that diet.

baitshop minnows are a gamble, you may think the guy's minnows are alright but trust me...I thought the same thing about my local baitshop's minnows...2 months later and about at this point around 10 dead fish I got away from them. In the overcrowded conditions those minnows are kept in its extremely easy for fungus or bacteria to take hold, regardless if the minnows where healthy or not coming in, and all that much easier for it to transfer to your tank with fish that have zero immunity to the diseases our native fish carry. Every other suggestion I agree with 100%.
