Well I just gave my 3" Gulper a $130 feeder. I put the poor Arowana yesterday and no prob's. I go to Mcdonalds for lunch and come back to find my Gulper also had lunch. My new Leichartdi was on the menu. Some how the son of a gun ate my 8 inch Aro. I desperately tried to retrieve him to no avail. He was already in the Gulpers belly. So now I'm postin these pics to document this tragedy so people will learn from my mistakes no matter how unlikely you think it is no matter how gentle your Gulper seems no 8" Aro's with 3" Gulpers. Mine lives peacefully with 2" Woodcats, 6" Jaguar cats , 4" Stingrays, 6" Megalodoras, 6" Tachy's and a 4" Rhinodoras. Never even tried to eat them. He hand feeds very gently and is very clumsy at least that's the image he portrays. For inside is a fish eatin devil not to be trusted. Goodbye Lei didn't even have time to give you a name

Any moderators out there make this a sticky. This way people will know about the danger of mixing Gulpers wit Arowana's. Plus I'll feel a little better bein a permanent fixture along Lucifer my Gulper. This way all of us includin the poor nameless Arowana will live forever. Thanx for the consideration.

I agree on the sticky and I am sorry for your loss. I just wish you only have 1 thread and not 3...

Seams like its going around rtc, gulper cats, Oscars people quit putting small aros in with cats and larger cichlids . If you even suspect that you're aro can fit in a mouth stop, it will fit don't look at the length of the pred look at the mouth ,my condolences for the eaten aros.

Oh, I learned my lesson alright. I'll never tempt fate again. What really bugs me out is the fact the Gulper took out my 2nd largest fish. My first is my Hybrid at 10" while I have alot of fish 6" and under in the tank. He's lived with them peacefully matter of fact the only one he acts aggressive to is the other Gulper who he nips at while I'm handfeeding them. Both are 3" and don't even try to eat the other cats. All the other cats are slow in comparison to the Arowana. It's truly a sad day for me, that was the first Aro I've ever owned and it grew on me. I was tryin to give him a fitting name like I do with all my other favorites. This hasn't stopped me from wanting another Aro though and I'm just gonna move the Gulpers to another tank. All my other cats have big mouths but can only eat fish about half their size. The Gulper I knew could possibly eat the Aro, but since they never bothered my other fish I assumed they'd leave the Aro alone. Seriously though a Arowana can take a place in your heart quickly and it's not worth it to take a chance with fish known to be highly predatory. I really will miss my Lei he added beauty and grace to my tank. So please be careful with tankmates people.
