Oscar yes, and wheels are temp. Tank has 2 thick coats of epoxy. Thinking about overflows and background, so taking time. Can I use epoxy expanding foam? Or polyurethane faom? Was thinking of fitting overflow pipes internally and then blowfoam all around, to hide them. But need to get natural colours in epoxy, any ideas? Was thinking slate tiles for bottom, would that reduce my bio filtration greatly?

Not that I have any experience what so ever in DIY but if you think about it if you dont have gravel your reducing the surface area for bacteria to reside on, but your making the tank a hellava lot easier to clean/keep clean. Spose it depends if you want a natural looking tank. So if you go with tiles you can just make up for your lack of gravel with a bit more filter capacity. Plus I think that most of the really productive biological filtration occurs where theres an abundance of oxygen, eg in a WD filter not at the bottom of your tank.

Maybe think of it like this- Monster fish make monster craps. Gravel traps the monster poop, making it an effort for you to get out. If its stuck there then its decomposing leaching more nitrogenous wastes into your system. Im sure theres another side to the story but that proves to be a good justification for using tiles so feel free to use it:D:ROFL:

Trying blow foam, crazy stuff, hard to get what you want.
And small gravel stuck to back wall with silicon.
Will try epoxy paint on foam and place sand on it while wet.
Don't know how it will look, but I can always redo.
Anyone done anything similar? would like consructive critisism.
