I have read some post that people do this and the corners of the tank is darkened as light doesn't hit it much. But I haven't really seen pictures of it. If anyone has full tank shots I would love to see them. Also of you are fully lighting a 6 foot tank with a 4 foot light fixture I would love to see that. :)

im using 2 36 inch lights on my 80 inch long 370g does that countish? lol no matter what i dont have pics lol

if you lift the light you can illuminate the full tank. you just need a brighter light. reefers often use 12" metal halide lights to brightly illuminate 2-3 foot of tank.
my new tank which isn't set up yet, will be 6 foot long and illuminated with about 6 inches of LED's, although the fixtures are bigger than that.

I have heard that raising the light fixture will spread out the lighting more but still haven't seen it.

I do this because I put heaters and filters on the sides so you dont see them as much. T8s and T5s cast off so the bottom is still bright but the top corners arnt. LEDS dont work the same htye go straight down.

I personally like it not 100% lit up.

I have a thread "4' light on 6' tank" under the equipment section from April where others supplied pics. Sorry I couldn't link but I'm on my phone. I have a 4' marineland double bright led on my 125 and the corners are definitely darker but brighter than no light at all.

What about this lol. One little light on a 3ft by 6ft tank :)
