I understand about the budget but Wednesday's 100% right. You are asking for big problems without a proper liner. And even at that, I'd not trust EDPM rubber but probably would try RPE - reinforced polyethylene, which is also 2x cheaper, 3x lighter and 10x more puncture resistant, e.g., http://www.everything-ponds.com/premium-grade-rpe-liner-for-large-ponds.html

Nah, I'm for the liner, but patch the pool liner as wellno i'm not sure it wasn't from the dog, and yes they do, but stop trying to talk me out of getting a liner!
If I can find the hole, I definitely will. I've got a patch kit for another pool and I'll have extra liner since it's square compared to the round pool, so I can use the corners as patches tooNah, I'm for the liner, but patch the pool liner as well
