I want to just slide my tongue delicately along every inch of that tank.
It looks like a swell piece of delicately manufactured candy.
.........it's just delicious.
lol
Glad you like it

gt, mate can i ask where you got such thick ply from.
I got the ply from a demolition yard. When I saw the price, I snatched it up there and then.

I like the use of that polycarb greenhouse/storm window material as lids. That's what I'm going to use on my 4x8 tank as well. It's nice and light, and mind bogglingly tough. I'm not sure about your pipe hold-down method. I am sure it will work, and it's quite clever, I just think it would annoy me after a while having to slide the pipe out to open the lids.
I always wanted to work out a way to use rare earth magnets to hold down lids on a big tank. No latches to mess with or anything. Only real issue is retaining the magnets in both the tank and the lids, and protect the magnets from corrosion... but I digress!
Tank looks great overall, looks like a LOT of sanding!
Thanks for the comment. The polycarbonate is quite strong and very easy to work with. Sliding the pipe across won't annoy me in the least. I would rather put up with that then put up with fish escaping.
Thanks to everyone else for the great comments.Really appreciate the kind words.
Update: I purchased all the silicon today and the besser bricks for which it will sit upon. Glass will be ordered on Tuesday and I am told to expect 1 week delivery. I have gone with 19mm so I don't think glass thickness will be a problem.
This is the silicon I will be using.
A quick pic of it on the blocks. Don't mind the mess at present.
The concrete slab is far from level so I had to cut timbers to suit in between the blocks and the tank. I will put some type of surround around the blocks at a later date but that is one of the least important things at this stage. I am really looking forward to barbecues, throwing a few back and eating outside while having this tank at the head of the table.
That's all for now. Next update will be of the glass installation in a little over a week should delivery go as planned.
