OK.. I live in a very, very small room and everytime my snake takes a dump, it stinks up the whole room.. Someone told me that air freshener is bad for reptiles, is that true?

That is absolutly true, any kind of air freshner, spray (ex: hair spray, paint spray, air freshner spray, fragrance spray, etc), or smoke are highly dangerous for reptiles (and for birds as well) Seriously, keep that away!!!

(just leave the door and/or windows open for a couple of hours will help, or in really last resort, use those kind of solid inodor air freshner - see picture -)

Alright.. I guess I'll just air out my room like I've been doing.

Thanks!

Would burning a scented candle be bad?

As I said in my first respond, any kind of SMOKE (including candle) is dangerous for reptiles, avoid any kind of "burning" material ;)

any sort of coaltar (something derived from petroleum or turpintine shuch as lysol and pinesol) are good cleaning agents and work well to get rid of smells but they are extremely dangerous to anything cold blooded such as fish and reptiles. detergents like soaps and such are going to be your best bet when getting rid of smells. scented dish soap can be used to clean a tank and it leaves a pleasant scent for a few days after but it doesn't last long. I think that scented smokeless candles should be fine so long as you dont use them every single day.

the best way to fight odors is with spot cleaning. just keep up with tank maintenance and the smell will not be a problem.
