So I have a tank with three 11 inch silver arowanas and one 8 inch common pleco. However, I'm not a big fan of the black color of the pleco, and I am very interested in having an 8 inch albino one. Right now I have a 2.5 inch albino in a much smaller tank (30 gallons) that gets along fine with the tiger barbs andy corys in there. I want to grow that small one as fast as possible, but will it grow in that 30 gallon? and how fast? And if i throw it into the huge tank with the 3 arows, will it get eaten?

If the Albino pleco fits in the mouth than it's dinner.

Albinos take ages to grow - I had one that grew up to 25cms but that seriously took 2yrs while my gold spots grew to 35cms in 2yrs.

Are y9u talking albino bristlenose or common albino? Albino bristlenose will only get 5 inches max and is too small for that tank. If you are talking common you need to get a choclate pleco which will grow fast and max out at 18 inches. They have a choclate/albino look to them that they will keep through adulthood.

Albino is a loose term as there are many, as mentioned an albino bristlenose won't get past 5 inches. I've personally owned a 14 inch albino chocolate, which by the way is NOT a real albino. There's an Albino Marble Sailfin which should be able to reach the same size as a normal sailfin(I've seen a 21 inch normal sailfin). There's an Albino Adonis, The normal Adonis has hit 3 feet in the wild.

There is still more that I left off.

Having a 7.5 inch pleco(until it reaches 8) in a 30 is not out of the question but it may be frowned upon even as a grow out tank by some.

I'm talking about the albino marble sailfin. Looks like the regular sailfins but are albino, and they reach about normal common pleco size. I just want to know the growth rate of those, because ive had mine for a month now and it seems like it hasnt grown at all. I let him clean up algae and occasionally throw in a hikari sinking algae wafer at night. I know 30 gallons isnt too big, but I'm afraid of putting it in the big tank where it may get eaten by my arros.

Don't know how fast they grow but I got large one recently. Notice the pink eyes, true albino. I could have gotten a larger chocolate pleco but it looked like a washed out common so I figure the albino was better one to get

This worries me, as with any pleco, their main course(source of food) should not be cleaning up algae. They need to be fed on a normal basis. Let them 'clean the algae' as extra(a snack).

I'd personally feed the hikari sinking algae wafer every night(as long as it's gone in the morning).

How much do albino's about that size cost? mine is only 2.5 inches at the moment and I payed 10 bucks for it. And mine has the red eyes too.
