So I am getting my shell-dwellers very soon and I was wondering how to keep the algae down in the tank. Also, will the Multies still breed well with some type of algae eater?

Yeah multies will breed onder most circumstances. What type of pleco? A bn should be fine to take care of your algae, or a oto. Algae is desirable for me on my shells (not on the glass) The algae holds alot of microscopic goodies for the babies to eat. Ive been growing the hair algae on my similis shells for more than a year.

I have never had much problem with Algae in my multies tank. Then again I do not leave the lights on for more than 5 or 6 hours a day. I also haven't seen any problems with putting a couple nerite snails or a small bristlenosed pleco in the setup.

Ok, I will just leave the algae alone. I am going to start out with about 7 Multies and I have 24 escargot shells.
