  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
saltwater fısh and freshwater fısh have dıfferent ınternal systems to allow them to lıve ın such condıtıons, ıf a fısh ıs from a coastal regıon and moves between brackısh and fresh theres a chance they can lıve ın salt water but probably not forever.

on the subject of alıgator gars ı dont know because ı dont know about amerıcan thıngs but ı hope that helps anyway

From the Ichthyology Dept. of the Florida Museum of Natural History:

The alligator gar inhabits large, slow moving rivers, reservoirs, oxbow lakes, bayous and bays,
in fresh and brackish water. The alligator gar is the most tolerant gar species of high salinity
and occasionally strays into salt water.

i think i heard of an public aquarium that has some in salt

aquarium of the americas in louisiana has a gator gar in a big marine tank with sharks, rays, barracuda, etc. saw it myself this past winter. gators, longnose, and spotted gars have been found in saltwater, but in terms of home aquaria would best be kept in freshwater.--
