american eels?

Definitely an interesting fish. I’d like to see one in a tank, probably hard to keep or just seen as undesirable as pets. I’ve never seen one for sale though, and I think they require full salt as adults. They just return to fresh to breed (I could be wrong). Would make a fun addition to a tank though.
But nothing compares to nice moray.?
I very well might be mistaken here, but I catch eels in a lake near me all the time and the closest saltwater is over 100 miles away down several creeks and two rivers. It would be impossible for them to go to the ocean and then back because they would have to climb up a huge spillway. I think they're American Eels, but I could be wrong.

Probably needed a bigger tank and more cover. I bet they stressed the ray.
I set pots to catch eels in the summer. I believe they don't like the company of others in small places, especially after the food is gone. I see eels quite often with bite marks from other eels.

I have kept them before. They are very good escape artists, and can survive and move about on land as long as they are kept wet. I've had 3 that all escaped despite the copious amount off duct tape I used to seal up every gap I could find. One disappeared into the rockwork and did not emerge for 6 months (holy crap, there was an eel in there!). That one was doing really well until my house was hit by lightning and set on fire. For me now though, the laws have changed. I can have them as bait, I cannot have them as pets.
