Reading the comments on that site is terrifying; it highlights how high the percentage of dummies is on this planet. A sow grizzly is nowhere near the size of a boar, but it's still likely 300 pounds...and yet there are folks there who seem to think that the driver did nothing to try to avoid that animal when it stepped out. A grizzly is fast, far faster than a horse for at least the first few hundred yards; this animal could have dashed out of the dark woods and onto the road in a split second. And yet not only are people castigating the driver, but at least one comment trumpeted that he probably didn't even stop after hitting the bear! Seriously? The driver is fortunate to be alive; it's very unlikely that either he or the car were in any condition to go anywhere under their own power after that collision.

This story is reminiscent of one that occurred in Africa a number of years ago. An adult giraffe, over 15 feet tall and weighing well in excess of a ton, ran out onto a bush runway, directly into the path of a small plane coming in for a landing. The animal was killed, the plane destroyed, and a number of people were seriously injured. Many of the comments online accused the pilot of purposely colliding with the animal!

And come on now, Esox...stuff the bear? Stuffing a roadkill makes about as much sense as buying a picture frame and displaying it with the picture that it came with, because that family looks nicer than one's own. But...I absolutely would have taken the thing home if it were legal and butchered it for dog food. :)
