Any advice on Channa Asiatica

Hi,
Im thinking about getting 3 Channa Asiatica but i have heard they are aggressive. I have read the Snakehead Sticky threads and was wondering if anyone who has owned this impressive snakehead, has any advice, pics or tales to tell as i only know what i have read on the sticky.

Hi,

asiatica can be very aggressive, and always when you dont expect it.
Harmonizing pairs can get in trouble over night an in the morning one fish is dead.

Otherwise asiatica are easy to keep, mine eat everything available, and as most snakehead they dont mess with dirty water.
Tey are subtropical, and like cooler waters at a time, but can stand hot summer temperature.too.

Ive got a mate whos selling 3 young asiatica that are 4 inches long and £15.
Would you advise me to buy 1 or the 3?
Can they be kept with any other fish eg: Oscars, Arowana?
And i have a 450 litre tank and is it big enough for 1,2 or 3 Asiatica's?

I dont understand why you insist on mixing channas with other fish even tho many experienced channaowners tell you its not a good idea..If you want to get the most out of them keep them in a speciestank,if you want to mix things up there are other fishes more suitable than channas.

arowana will eat asiatica, oscar will bully asiatica, three asiatica alone in a 450L Tank could lead to a pair, and could work, but not for sure

Danny, do yourself a favor and stick with you mix of dwarfs you have now and learn a little about channa before moving up a size.

If anyone doesn't know why, look through dannys othe snakehead posts and you will see.

You were (again) asking about mixing with Oscars. The problem myself and others have with you (not really a problem per say) is you keep asking pretty much the same advice and get responses from people including myself who really DO have a clue about keeping Channa, and then ignoring it and asking the same old advice again.

Channa as a general rule don't mix well with other fish for various reasons and are best kept to species only tanks.
