Any advice on Channa Asiatica

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
no seriously, all snide comments aside, i now have my 5 tanks set up and intend doing some species keeping.
i have some young blue assam in a100lt tank short term, pulchra in a 180, stewarti in juwel 250lt, these were 2 nice second hand tanks i picked up for a song and i have just got my juwel 450 wich i will be keeping either asiatica or aurantimaculata.
i still have my original 180 juwel wich at the moment is waiting for a couple of galaxy moonbeams that i can get quite cheap considering what they go for.
regarding what i said about snakeheads living with other fish, well i was only going off a sticky i read on aurantimac. quote"this snakehead does not get on well at all with members of its own species, but strangely enough will tolerate other fish as long as they are too big to be considered as food".
Thanks very much to every one who gave me genuine advice without ridicule and i apologise for my ignorance regarding the channa species but am learning all the time. cheers and all the best danny.

ive just placed an order for 20 asiatica. im going to try a well planted species tank and see how they get along.

I fancy Asiatica myself but I'm a little bit worried about the temperment of this fish, are they trouble to keep at full size.

After seeing some of Brucki's pictures and, by the way, thanks very much Brucki and the Sticky i read, im wondering will this be a problem fish as i do tend to get attached to my fish and wouldnt like to see them all smashed up. I kept Pirahnas and an odd time one would get smashed up, i hated it.:irked:

Cheers, Danny
