So to make this story short I'm 19, I work at a very labor intensive job and was able to buy myself a truck, well my parents car had a ball bearing go out so they've been using my truck for the past 7-8 months, running the Miles up and basically using it for peronal use just not to get to work. I understand that they provide for me but when they redo their bathroom and buy themselves new phones In stead of fixing their car it becomes aparent that it's not their priority, so I'm going to my gf house tonight and her parents suggested I could leave it at their house and just say it won't start (yes it's gotten that bad) but I need an excuse on why it wont start, it can't be something simple where my step dad can just pop the hood and see nothing was really "fixed" any suggestions?

Starter, alternator, throttle body sensor or map sensor (one or the other) misfire in a cylinder (engine light). Last one is a weak excuse but if it's your truck. What do they have for a car? I bet you a wheel bearing is about 200 plus 2 hrs labor

They have a Chevy blazer so not really a car but they supposedly have a "buddy that can do it for $700" where is the throttle body sensor located? If I say alternater broke wen I do get my truck back he can just check and see if I got a new one . I do have an engine light on and we checked and it was like a vapor sensor pump so maybe I could get by with a misfire in a cylinder. Idk it's kinda difficult because my truck runs really well and to say it just wouldn't start all of a sudden might seem kinda fishy

The wheel bearings at least in my vehicle are considered nonservicable and require swapping out the entire hub assembly on front end but as mentioned above, it is a pretty easy job. I just swapped out my hub assembly and it came to $180 for the entire assembly. I would just help them get their vehicle fixed and problem solved.

I pay more than they ask every month if they really wanted to get it fixed they would have

Hello; Pull the fuel pump fuse.
On the other hand it is refreshing to read of the tables being turned. Usually it is the child using up a parents car/truck.

An option; are you mechanical? If so fix the parents car yourself. Parts likely much less than the labor on that sort of job.

No I'm not mechanical unfortunately, I mean I hate to go behind their backs but it's gotten to far, I was late getting my license and they've been using my truck since before I got my full, truck had 153 when I bought it and nw it's around 163 and iv put less than 1000 miles on it. The blazer whole front end had to be replaced a few years ago when my step dad had a bit to much fun in the snow, cost them 2500 and it was fixed before I even knew about it. I think since I don't technically NEED my truck since my work can pick me up then it's just not a priority for them to get theirs fixed, I'm also tired of paying insurance fir some thing I barley get to drive.

It is on the plastic air intake about 3/4 of the way from the air filter to the throttle body
