I remember McMahon talking about that during interviews and trying to make himself sound like a tough guy for taking Hart's punch.
 
Straight uppercut to the jaw in front of Shawn Micheals and the undertaker as well as Shane and all the hart network guys. Concussed Vince and sprained his ankle as he fell. Hahaha. Evil heel McMahon was then introduced afterward.

Hart spit on him at some point too.That was the start of the whole "Vince screwed Bret" deal in which Vince wanted Bret to be pinned in his last WWE match to Michaels so he could not leave and pop up in WCW with the title.Vince didn't trust that Hart would keep his word so he came to ringside and had the ref do a quick count and ring the bell....kicked off Vince's whole evil owner persona.
 
It was submission without tapping out from the sharpshooter. I remember watching it live.

Yeah the spitting was from the ring. I just hadn't heard about the uppercut or that the ref was so bothered by it he left the arena instantly and wouldn't leave his hotel room. The plan was for their to be a DQ that night through interference by the hart foundation as Brett didn't want to lose on Canadian ground to Micheals. He also had never lost a match my submission up to that point

Ring the bell dammit!..after the screw job finish Bret went back to the locker room and Vince went to talk to him and that is when Bret supposedly hit him.Bret and Shawn had an ongoing behind the scenes feud and Bret didn't want to lose to him.Shawn was said to be quaking in his boots after the match lol.
