I just placed my fourth order with Cichlid Station, and this was the only scary order to date. Terry and Margie at CichlidStation did their part and got the order to FedEx at a good time, but the weather in KC was bad, so FedEx routed the order South to Fort Worth... Turns out, the weather in Fort Worth went from "not so good" to "bad", as well...
I'm sitting at home the next morning (Dec 8) realizing my 5 new bouncing baby Pleco's are stuck in Fort Worth, and unfortunately stayed there for almost 24 hours... I can't tell you how much it meant to me to get several status phone calls and emails from Terry and Margie letting me know they were actively trying to work with FedEx, and assuring me the success rate for live shipments was still around 80% for fish that near the 48 hour time frame.
I have to admit, I was somewhat skeptical about my chances for a "live" arrival... I was also nervous as to where FedEx kept these fish during the delay (it was VERY cold outside)... To make a long story short, I receive my order about 38-40 hours after the fish had been packaged and all five fish arrived alive and energetic. This was 3 days ago (Dec 9), and all five fish are still alive and healthy. CichlidStations packing process is extraordinary...
The CichlidStation family based operation is the only way to go when ordering live fish as far as I'm concerned, and their Plecostomus offerings are far superior to any LFS anywhere near me... Also, the "grossly unfair" price quotes I've received from other sites on shipment costs, will keep me doing business with CichlidStation. Admittedly, I was skeptical and nervous about this particualar order, but those concerns proved to be wasted emotions...
Also, as a commendation to FedEx: I called FedEx first thing the second morning after shipment (Dec 9 at around 6:30am) letting them know the situation with these fish. I have to tell you, I receive no less than 6 return calls from individuals at FedEx who proved they were truly concerned about my "Live" fish order. In short, they had my fish available for pickup in just a couple of hours, and this was after two days of delays in their system and a lot of existing turmoil in their hub.
Nothing but accolades to Cichlid Station and Fedex...
Merry Christmas to all,
-Vaughn
