that is science proven! eating too much red meat also affect people not just fish!

Pangasius hypophthalmus is labeled as Swai in the United States. It is commonly known as Iridescent Shark. It is shipped in large quanities to the US due to lack of interest in the far east where it is heavily farmed. the US in an effort to protect the local catfish farming industry put restrictions on it's live import as well as the name it is marketed with.

It is known as BASA in Europe and Canada. like I said its the Vietnamese name. I´m sure swai is of another SE Asian origin. still the same thing.

Yes,I just got finished looking it all up.The swai and basa are two different pangasius fish that are farmed and shipped here. The basa is said to have a better flavor than swai. These fish are not allowed to be labeled as catfish in the U.S. food markets due to fear of competition to the U.S. catfish farming industry.Interesting.

LOL how pathetic that everything is in fear of being "competition" in todays global market can anyone really afford to be that picky? US catfish arent sold anywhere else as food but Basa and Swai are sold all over the world, kind of says it all really.
And in terms of flavour, Basa is really good because you can do a lot with it in terms of flavourings and cooking styles.

My fish really love it, but I like it more so they don´t get it as often as they would like. lol

And as much as I like to eat catfish,if swai is anywhere near as tasty then my fish won't be getting any of it either lol.

Just to clarify, Basa is Pangasius bocourti. Both similar fish but not the same fish. Only Ictaluridae can be labeled as catfish in the US, these include: Channel, Bullhead, Madtom, and Blue catfish. Flathead thus are not covered by this though the main catfish used in farming is the channel.

Now to re-rail the de-rail, the meat should be fine for feeding. However, as other have remarked about red meats such as beef there are problems with diets of all kinds. In the aquaponics industry many farmers have found that a lot of these meat based diets need to be varied due to high fat content or issues with proteins and amino acids. It should be fine to feed, just try to vary the diet.

Re-rail the de-rail lol,I like that....I've never been a fan of feeding red meat to my fish, never got with the beef hearts either...As for the swai,it would be part of a rotation of food items that I already use. They are predators but I do try to vary their diet.

All I'm gonna say is fish don't eat red meat in the wild, nor did they evolve eating it...their digestive system is not designed to process it well, but you do whatever you want to your fish. I will stick to feeding mine things that they're supposed to eat.
