Not sure if you are still looking for people but I’m in SoCal. Also , there is a a fish store in Santa Ana that seems to be increasing their meetups. It’s called Nolan’s aquarium. Pretty small store but they are having a cichlid youtuber come in this Saturday sort of like a small meetup to talk and have refreshments.

I can’t say I’ve seen meet ups like you’d see in the car/truck world but if you poke around in the classified section you will see a good amount of so cal people Who regally sell fish or supplies ,
I’ve met up with a fair amount of people from buying or selling something In The classified section
And everyone has been a pleasure to meet and see there set ups
And thru a few deals I’ve met a few guys I still
Keep in regular touch with to chit chat about tanks or new fish
