I think voting is so subjective. Kinda like American Idol. Haha

Some vote on photography skills
Some vote on a pic because they like the fish
Some vote because the fish is showpiece quality
Some vote because the pic is cute
Some vote because they think the pic is unique
Some vote because they think a pic is hard to take

Overall I think it boils down to mass appeal ... so yes POTM is kinda like American Idol
