what would be the best aquaclear filter for a 10 gallon tank? Would the 50 be good or should i go up or down a size?

What are you putting in the tank ? ... Besides filters ;) Ive found the 50 to be quite sufficient for a 20 gallon tank so for a 10 it should be more than adequate. I might reccomend one of the smaller aqua clears but the 50 is the smallest I have ever used. It does a good job on a 20 gallon hospital tank. If you got the cash the 50 would be a very nice filter for a 10 but most likely a bit more than enough in the flow area (200gph on a 10Gallon) adjust for media and all that and you still have around 12-15 X turnover not bad :)

what do you plan on keeping in the 10 gallon tank? if nothing with a big bioload then you would be ok taking it a step down. but then again i dont think you can ever have too much filtration. i have 2 AC70's and a skimmer for up to 100 gallons on my 75 gallon tank and was still considering putting the magnum 350 i have sitting aside in there for more filtration and buffer the water with filter floss

Ya I would probably just go with the 30 unless you have something with a huge bio-load, but anything thats gonna make too much bioload for an ac30 probably shouldnt be in a 10g anyways.

I am gonna use it for a quarantine tank.I want really good filtration but i also don't want a huge current slamming fish into the walls. So you think the 30 would be sufficient huh?

The AC50 might be a bit much for your 10g. An AC30 will be more than enough.
I was gonna reccomend an ac30 but ive never used one really. I know the AC50 kinda feels like a toy but im a little ham fisted :grinno: I break tap valves from eheim latches from fluval... :(

I have an AC50 and a powerhead + sponge prefilter on my 29. It works fine and the tank is pretty heavily stocked. It looks like a wimpy little filter but does it's job. The AC30 would work great.

I have a whisper 60 on my 10 gallon QT, only because I had it laying around.
