Aquarium background alternatives..?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I used the metalic wrapping paper alot when I had mine set up at first. Lately, I just leave it open and see the wall behind it.

Howdy,

if you'd like to prepare a real cool background yourself, then do this: Get paper/cardboard the size of the back of your tank. Spray construction foam (polyurethane) on it, let cure. This way, you create a 3D background. Paint with oil-based paint and let the colors flow into each other. Use brown and green, but also bright yellow (sparingly). It'll look awesome. I do that for all of my tanks. It looks real natural. Sorry it's kinda grown over with Vallisneria, but it's the only shot I could find right now.

kind of standard.. but I think I might just hit it with some flat black paint. Don't know what I am going to put in the tank yet but I do have 70lb's of big grayish/blue rocks to put in there. Maybe some white gravel or crushed coral. I will have my midas from my avatar in there<<< and possibly a baby Trimac.
