That is a lot of... um fish personality for one tank. Crazy high bio loads a safe bet. Maybe massive water changes would help get the particles out.
That was a great article!!!!!!! It cleared up some things for me...some questions though...
I have raised large cichlids in the past and have always used canister filters.
I am having two large tanks built for me (side by side) with one large wet/dry(sump)
between them that they will share. I realize this won't be enough so I was thinking
of adding 4 or 6 ocean clear canisters between them also.
Now I have finally found what a sealed pressure system is(on the internet) and
even thou more expensive, seems to be more efficient and easy maintenance.
I am still confused thou.... it says that the sealed canisters are filled up with
something called beads and you clean them by backwashing.
How can this be more effective that a sponge or ceramic balls???
Also the flow rate was only 90gph on one type...is this enough for two
large tanks of cichlids???? The sealed units I found were actually made for
outdoor Koi ponds... I can't decide if I should play it safe with the regular
ocean clear canister filters or invest into these sealed units which cost
alot and might not work fast enough for my situation>>>......
Any comments woulds be appreciated,,,,Also where can I find more sealed
units to look at??????
