That is a lot of... um fish personality for one tank. Crazy high bio loads a safe bet. Maybe massive water changes would help get the particles out.

The cloudy tank photo looks like a bacterial bloom to me (bacteria are normally too small to filter out, you just need to wait until the rank reaches equilibrium).
How was ?(and how long was) the tank cycled before adding all those fish (were seasoned filters used to properly cycle)?.

Aquarium filters depend on many factors so there is no one best filter for every aquarium. This also depends on what kind of aquatic life you are rising. Here I will explain some facts.
Betta fishes who likely lived in current less water prefer gentle flow from spong filter. As per my experience, this filter need least maintenance cost however they require air pump to work. This makes bit noise depending on build quality. This filter offer biological and mechanical filtration. So keep in mind don't wash them in tap water they need to squeeze every now and again.

The way you describe the whole matter about water filtration it's really appreciatable. Few people like you know that proper method about that. I am really thankful to you. Keep sharing your valuable thaught.

Aquarium channel is similarly as significant as the fish tank for having an aquarium at home. We can't skip both of them as long as we need to keep fish alive. Many individuals began their first fish tank without even have a channel. It is no big surprise why most amazing the initial half a month.

Just to be direct, fish will kick the bucket if there is no channel in the fish tank.
To comprehend the significance of aquarium channels, we initially should realize what they do.
The Function and Purpose of an Aquarium Filter.
There are three essential elements of a channel framework in an aquarium.

Before we get into the essential kinds of aquarium filtration for a sound tank, you have to comprehend the three classifications of filtration: mechanical, concoction and organic.

Essential Sorts of Aquarium Filtration for a Sound Tank

Mechanical: Mechanical filtration is the procedure wherein particulate issue is expelled from the water.

Concoction: Substance filtration expels poisonous or undesirable synthetics as the water goes through a compound media or gum.

Organic: In natural filtration, various sorts of microbes convert the harmful synthetic results created by the aquarium occupants into less poisonous supplements. This breakdown procedure by the microorganisms is known as the Nitrogen Cycle.

That was a great article!!!!!!! It cleared up some things for me...some questions though...
I have raised large cichlids in the past and have always used canister filters.
I am having two large tanks built for me (side by side) with one large wet/dry(sump)
between them that they will share. I realize this won't be enough so I was thinking
of adding 4 or 6 ocean clear canisters between them also.
Now I have finally found what a sealed pressure system is(on the internet) and
even thou more expensive, seems to be more efficient and easy maintenance.
I am still confused thou.... it says that the sealed canisters are filled up with
something called beads and you clean them by backwashing.
How can this be more effective that a sponge or ceramic balls???
Also the flow rate was only 90gph on one type...is this enough for two
large tanks of cichlids???? The sealed units I found were actually made for
outdoor Koi ponds... I can't decide if I should play it safe with the regular
ocean clear canister filters or invest into these sealed units which cost
alot and might not work fast enough for my situation>>>......
Any comments woulds be appreciated,,,,Also where can I find more sealed
units to look at??????

As mentioned by various others before this, that is a great intro to filtration!
I’ve never used a sump(wet or dry?) and find myself thinking about going back to undergravel, which I used a lot, many years ago.
One of its limitations listed above is a limited bio filtration area. I wonder if anyone has used a sponge or fiber type of mat, either on or under the undergravel filter to increase the surface area? Would that work? Or maybe get severely clogged?

Another thing—I used a DE canister filter for a few hours in my discus tank yesterday, (40% water change with RO 3 days ago, but it looked a bit cloudy). The DE cleared it rapidly, but it is slightly cloudy again today! Dipstick—GH—40, KH—10, pH—6.5, nitrites—0, nitrates—10 or 20. 85 degrees.

Six adult or near adult discus, 4 pearl gouramis, and 2 very small tiger barbs. Am I feeding too much? (I like to feed them several times a day and they LOVE me to), and I don’t see leftover food.
Any thoughts?

I forgot to mention the tank—75 gallons. Does that sound large enough for six 5-6 inch discus?
