Steve, do you see many black silicone tank over there?

I go to many LFS here and in England, 99% are clear silicone. Probably need to special order black it's so dumb! I actually do not think I've seen a black sealed tank in a shop here...

its special order tanks you get the choice of black or clear silicone on. not many mass production tanks have black that are though. mainly clear.
although going with black silicone is free with the companies ive looked at buying a tank off.

really? the only blue silicone tanks I have seen were ones that were stained that way via the addition of ich medications like quick cure.

turns your silicone blue..permanently.

nope thats what I thought at first- purchased a flatback old school tank- I had to reseal as the edges were just barely hanging in there it and I scrapped off the silcone and to my surprise the seal itself in the center- like glass edge when you cut it in half you can still see the blue tinge to it where the water have never gone before.

reminded me of glass tank edges. I also saw the same tank make/size up in Wisconsin for sale (used tank) - had the same tinge to it as well

I have had the blue leach out eventually, but it does take awhile.

its still probably from meds. even though the water does not contact that far the dyes that stain may leach that far in.

thats probably why you are only seeing it on used tanks.

:iagree:
